Who I am...
Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher.
The skills or attributes I believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher is having the understanding that the purpose is not to just simply teach, but to inspire by making learning interesting, relevant, and comprehensible. All students can learn and it is the teacher’s job to provide students with high-quality instruction. Teachers are the ones to set the atmosphere of their classroom by having great classroom-management skills with clear expectations. They create a sense of belonging based on mutual respect and providing a safe learning community. Teachers need to be able to plan lessons based on objective, methodology, assessment, and evaluation. Teachers need to be accessible, enthusiastic and caring by forming positive relationships with their students and parents by creating a place demonstrating that they have their students’ best interests at heart. Teachers need to encourage students to be aware and productive members in their community. Teachers need to be skilled leaders within their means to focus on shared decision-making, teamwork, and community building. Outstanding teachers should convey this sense of leadership to students by providing opportunities for each of them to assume leadership roles. Teachers need to collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development by asking for suggestions, learning from fellow professionals. Teachers need to be able to use constructive criticism and advice as an opportunity to grow as an educator. An outstanding teacher is able to make a difference in students’ lives by providing education to all students whom they have the privilege of teaching. My Background:
